(1) Adult Education ESL Teachers Guide

This site provides Beginning and Intermediate Lesson Plans and Accompanying Teacher Training  Modules. It also presents a general orientation for teaching of ESL.

(2) BC TEAL

This site includes conference information, membership info, newsletter highlights, TEAL Professional Certificate, and other links.

(3) Canadians and Their Government

is a resource guide containing ready-to-use material for various types of learning environments. The activities use creative tasks, role-playing, research and discussion-oriented tasks to illustrate how government works. The information provided within the guide gives a comprehensive and concise explanation of how Canada has developed, and continues to develop, as a strong democratic country.

(4) CALL@Chorus

is a teacher's resource which offers web resources, online teaching and learning links, and reviews of CALL books and software. It also features demonstrations of the latest in Cutting Edge CALL Demos.

(5) Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks

The CCLB lesson plans were compiled as part of a cross-Canada project. ESL teachers submit samples of successful lesson plans for learners at Stages 1 and 2 of the CLB (CLB 1 –8). These lessons outline ideas for activities and tasks to help learners develop CLB competencies in all four skills.

A teacher's resource website with links to materials for teaching such as country profiles, holidays, libraries and museums, pronunciation, sports and teaching ideas as well as links to online  courses in English and other useful ESL websites.

This is a resource website that has innumerable links for ESL teachers on every conceivable topic from teacher training to employment to classroom activities to an ESL bulletin board.

A comprehensive hypertext listing of ESL Learner websites with Canadian Language Benchmark rating for reading, writing, speaking/listening activities.  Each site includes host country, interactivity rating and Jim's star rating. 

(17) Puzzlemaker

Teachers can create  different types of puzzles online such as mazes, crossword puzzles, word searches, cryptograms, etc.  Puzzles can be saved online or printed.

(18) The Red Book Online

is a complete online guide to community, social and government agencies and services across the Lower Mainland. It provides detailed descriptions of over 4,000 agency listings offering a variety of services including: counselling, health, employment, housing, etc. 

(19) TESL English Lessons

This is mainly a teacher's resource website but also has links for ESL students, such as reading comprehension activity, vocabulary game, advanced English skills for ESL Students, etc.

(20) The Tower of English

An interactive magazine for ESL students and teachers which requires a lot of sifting to find the content but has a wide variety of activities and material.

(21) The Virtual CALL Library

This site is a central point of access to Computer Aided Language Learning (CALL) software scattered across the Internet and available for downloading. Most software linked from this page is shareware or freeware.  In addition, it provides links to sources of commercial CALL software, CALL organizations, forums and journals.

(22) Azar Grammar Exchange

An Online Resource for ESL Teachers and a Companion Website to the Azar Grammar Series. The new and expanded Azar Grammar Exchange is a global community of ESL teachers. It provides a forum where teachers can share ideas, questions, and grammar-teaching materials for the benefit of students around the world.
