English as a Second Language (ESL) Programs

The ESL Division at Vancouver Community College offers English Language courses in the following Departments:
 

ELSA
English Language Services for Adults

offers full-time and part- time classes at Literacy, Level 1, 2 and 3.  All students in these classes are sponsored by the government and must apply at Western ESL Services. 

Outreach

offers English as a Second Language classes at various levels, times and locations in Vancouver and Burnaby. All general ESL Outreach classes teach listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar and take into consideration student needs and interests when planning the specific content for each course. Some classes focus on specific skills.

ELS
English Language Skills

offers part-time and full-time courses in ESL from Upper Beginner to Upper Advanced. Most classes are offered four days per week - Monday to ThursdayClasses focus on the four basic language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Special Skill classes that focus on one or two skills are also  offered.

CPE
College Preparatory English

program has been designed especially for students whose  original education was completed in a language other than English. CPE offers credit and non-credit courses to students who are preparing for, or already taking part in, post-secondary studies.

PACE
Professional and Career English

offers focused ESL training that provides learners with the knowledge and skills to access further training or entry into professions. It also offers programs which combine job training and ESL instruction.

International Education

offers international students English as a Second Language, Career, Technology and University Transfer Programs. Students can also prepare for TOEFL and FCE, study Music, Hospitality, Art and  Design, Teaching English, Culinary Arts, ComputerTechnology, Health Programs, and more. International students can obtain conditional admission to university colleges.
